🌳 Our Environmental Policy: North Wales Rubber Roofing

At North Wales Rubber Roofing, we are committed to protecting the unique beauty and environment of the region we serve. We recognize that our work has an environmental impact, and we strive to minimize it through proactive, sustainable practices focused on resource efficiency and responsible waste management.

That’s a fantastic idea. An environmental policy is not just about compliance; it’s a huge selling point, especially in a beautiful area like North Wales where the environment is so important to locals and visitors.

A strong policy should focus on three areas: Our Commitment,Our  Process and Local Compliance.

🌳

Our Core Environmental Commitments

Our policy is built around the following key pledges:

  1. Waste Minimisation & Circularity: To prioritise the reduction, reuse, and recycling of all materials on every project, exceeding the requirements of Welsh environmental legislation.
  2. Sustainable Sourcing: To favour materials with low environmental impact, high durability, and certified provenance.
  3. Regulatory Compliance: To meet or exceed all relevant environmental legislation, codes of practice, and regulations, including the Waste (England and Wales) Regulations 2011.

Our Focus: The Sustainability of Rubber (EPDM)

We choose to specialise in Rubber Roofing (EPDM) because the material itself offers a major environmental advantage:

Commitment Our Action Environmental Impact
Long-Term Durability We install premium EPDM systems known for a lifespan of 50+ years. Reduces the need for frequent replacement, conserving raw materials and energy used in manufacturing.
Material Composition We source EPDM that is often manufactured from recycled materials (e.g., up to 95% recycled content). Reduces the demand for virgin resources and supports the circular economy.
End-of-Life Recycling We ensure that EPDM is a 100% recyclable material at the end of its lifespan. Guarantees that the material will not end up in a landfill but can be repurposed into new products.
Energy Efficiency Our installations include high-performance insulation, contributing positively to Part L of the Building Regulations (Conservation of fuel and power). Improves the thermal efficiency of your property, reducing your heating bills and carbon emissions.

On-Site Waste Management in North Wales

As part of our commitment to responsible practices in Wales, we operate a strict waste hierarchy on every job:

  1. Segregation at Source: All waste removed from your property is immediately separated into specific waste streams:

    • Old felt, asphalt, or rubble for recycling/recovery.

    • Scrap EPDM/rubber for designated recycling facilities.

    • Timber and metal for specialist recycling.

  2. Licensed Carriers: We use only licensed waste carriers and ensure all waste transfer notes are maintained in line with the Duty of Care regulations.

  3. Local Compliance: We are fully compliant with the Welsh Government’s Workplace Recycling Law (from April 2024), ensuring separately collected waste is not sent to landfill or incineration.
